The persistent leaves of Felicia echinata cover the branched, erect stems densely. The lance-shaped leaves taper to acutely pointed tips, the lower ones usually curving down, often abruptly.

The leaves are shiny, but rough with small, hard marginal teeth. The specific name, echinata, is a Latin word meaning prickly, referring to this feature of the leaves (Moriarty, 1997; Gledhill, 1981; www.plantzafrica.com).
