This sparsely flowering Felicia filifolia bush was seen in October in the Caledon Wildflower Garden. The pale ray florets around the central yellow discs are sometimes more brightly coloured than here, in shades of blue or mauve.
The specific name, filifolia, was derived from the Latin words fili- meaning thread and folium meaning leaf, referring to the thread-like, often tufted and fleshy leaves; perhaps even the branches, as they are thin and twiggy too (Manning, 2009; Andrew, 2012; www.plantzafrica.com).
