Euclea polyandra, sometimes commonly called baboon guarri and in Afrikaans baviaanskers (baboon candle) or kersbos (candle bush), is a multistemmed shrub reaching heights from 30 cm to 2 m.

The species distribution is in the south of the Western Cape from Rooi-Els to the southwest of the Eastern Cape as far as Gqeberha. The photo was taken in the Little Karoo.

The habitat is fynbos and coastal bush in sandstone derived soils and clayey renosterveld. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
