Erica unicolor subsp. mutica open flowers

The tubular flowers of Erica unicolor subsp. mutica grow in small, stalked clusters at stem-tips. Floral bracts are positioned immediately below the (also) leaf-like sepals.

The perianths or corolla tubes are sticky and glossy, usually longer than 2 cm. Colouring in the lower part of the perianth is often pink or pink-purple, sometimes pale orange as in picture. The perianth upper part and the four shallowly rounded lobes, more or less erect when open, may be white, yellow or yellow-green.

The eight anthers are included in the tube, the white style tip and stigma exserted (Manning and Helme, 2024; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
