Erica urna-viridis is an erect shrub of about 1 m tall. The stem and lower branches become leafless, while the small stem-tips are densely leafy and hairy.

The small, narrow leaves ascend in four or five neat vertical arrays on the upper branchlets. The deep green to bright green, hairless leaves are slightly ovate and keeled, becoming from 4 mm to 7 mm long (Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist).
