Erica seriphiifolia flowers

The Erica seriphiifolia flower clusters are compact and headlike at stem-tips, including from the upper leaf axils. In picture new leafy growth is starting to exceed the inflorescences. The coarse-haired or fluffy pedicels allow the open flowers to nod, angled outwards.

The corolla-coloured narrow sepals bulge in picture on the back parts of the flaring corollas. While styles may be exserted far in flowers of this species (but not seen in picture), the thick, dark anthers are not exserted, although they are visibly longer than the narrow basal corolla cup, not reaching the lobe tips. In the old flowers the corolla lobes curve in again. The small, superior ovary is globose and glabrous or hairless (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
