It is occasionally possible to catch Erica plukenetii flowering early enough to see perianths hanging without protruding stamens (yet).

The pedicels turn sepal colour once they nod, here translucent yellow green on the short buds still pointing outwards. The narrow, pointed sepals are keeled and slightly darker coloured than the also glossy perianths. Perianth pink becomes brighter as the tubes elongate. The broad yellow bands at the perianth tips don’t change much in the development going on here (Manning and Helme, 2024; iNaturalist).
