The narrow, ascending leaves of Erica quadrisulcata surround the young stem tips densely. The straight, stalkless leaves, pale green in colour, have their margins rolled under.
The plant branches much, sprawling or growing upright to heights varying between 30 cm and 50 cm. Upper stems are pale or reddish, lower down they become woody where the leaves spread (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; www.plantzafrica.com).
