Erica irregularis leaves grow in spaced whorls of three or four around the stems. The stems in picture are whitish with some longitudinal line markings and a faint, pale green patch below the base of each leaf.
The leaves are dark green, narrow and either in-curved to a sickle-shape or (nearly) straight, all with pointed tips. Leaf margins are rolled under, leaving a longitudinal, white-velvety gap below (i.e. on the outside of the ascending leaves). The leaf is thickly stubby to triangular in cross-section.
Some closed buds are visible among the leaves on still short, initially straight pedicels (Manning and Helme, 2024; Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; Mustart, et al, 1997; Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist; iSpot).
