Erica viscaria subsp. longifolia flowers

The down-curving Erica viscaria subsp. longifolia corolla tubes grade gradually in colour from pink-purple to white, roughly in the upper quarter of their lengths. The four spreading lobe tips are rounded and short, only smooth-edged on some flowers.

The stamens are visible inside the tube, near the flower mouth. The style is longer, nearly or just exserted. The stigma at its tip is dark and globular. Fine hairs and shiny surface cells are just visible on parts of the perianths.

The leaves appear longitudinally ridged (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Baker and Oliver, 1967).
