The leaves of Fockea capensis are opposite along the stems, ovate in shape and finely hairy. Their margins are entire, but often wavy like those in picture, curving vigorously.
The leaves become 2 cm long, 1 cm wide; the leaf tip is rounded. Leaf browsing sometimes creates a damaged appearance for the plant.
F. capensis is regarded by some as part of F. edulis that has smooth leaves and a less warty caudex (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot; www.desert-tropicals.com).
