The sparsely branched stems of Edmondia sesamoides have overlapping, alternate leaves, small, dark green with pointed tips. Adhering to the stems with slightly concave upper surfaces, the leaves are hairless on their lower surfaces. Near the flowerheads the leaves are mostly scale-like. The leaf margins are rolled up. On old stems the leaves sometime lose their green colouring.
Whitish woolly stem parts are visible around the leaves (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist; iSpot).
