The long and narrow green pods of Erythrina humeana have characteristic indentations or constrictions between the individual seeds growing inside. These pods will turn black as they ripen and release their ripe red seeds. There is a black mark on each seed where it was attached to the pod by the funicle.
The fruit pods are sometimes called lucky beans, a name shared at least with the pods of E. lysistemon that look similar (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993; iNaturalist).
