Erythrina species

The erythrina name denotes the colour red in Greek, which characterizes many of the flowers of the species of this genus, although not all. They are often tall trees in tropical and sub-tropical areas found in various parts of the world.

There are several medicinal uses for erythrina plant material among indigenous people, whilst the seeds of some species are also toxic.
