Eulophia coddii flower showing spur

The blunt, rounded tip of the sac-like spur below the lip of Eulophia coddii is clearly displayed in the photo. This spur grows from the back of the lip, the plant being a Eulophia; some other orchids have their spurs on the dorsal sepals while some are without spurs.

Some orchid spurs contain nectar, others are treated by pollinators as if they do. The pretence or mimicry of neighbouring nectar-producing flowers works well enough, the lazy, cheating ones still being around.
