Euphorbia pulvinata, a dioecious species, grows male and female cyathia on separate plants. This is a female plant.
The yellow, yellow-green or purplish red flowers are up to 5 cm in diameter on the male plants and 3 cm on the female ones. Cyathia grow solitary, either sessile or short-peduncled.
The five involucral glands around the stem-tip cyathia bases are cup-shaped, brown-red to purple-red and hairless. Five or six purple nectar glands are present. The stalkless ovary protrudes above the involucre, its thick styles up to 2 mm long, two-lobed and spreading (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; http://www.llifle.com; https://www.plantbook.co.za; https://worldofsucculents.com).
