    Euphorbia gamkensis young plant
    Author: Ivan Lätti

The young Euphorbia gamkensis plant in picture doesn’t yet show the top of its caudex above-ground. The central stem or caudex normally becomes up to 6 cm in diameter, positioned underground; the above-ground plant component reaching a height of 13 cm.

Mature plants may have a dome-shaped caudex bulging conspicuously, the cylindrical stems angling out from its surface.

    E. gamkensis was at some stage confused with E. crassipes as explained by Marx (http://www.euphorbia-international.org/journal/pdf_files/EW_11_3_sample.pdf).
