The small false flowers or cyathia of Euphorbia ephedroides grow at stem-tips in cymes of up to four.
Green leaf-like, pointed bracts or cyathophylls are present below the flowers; stalked, fleshy and orbicular. The yellow or greenish yellow flower colour is mainly present in the five fleshy flat, rounded glands around the other floral parts. The brown comes later.
The stalkless fruit capsules are rounded, about 4 mm in diameter with three vertical segment lines across the upper surface of each. On the mountain slopes red capsules are found on these plants, elsewhere they are usually green. Fruit colour usually relates to ripeness (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Williamson 2010; iNaturalist).
