Euryops speciosissimus flowering

The radiate flowerheads of Euryops speciosissimus grow solitary on long, leafless peduncles from leaf axils. They may be as long as 40 cm.

The ray florets are long, narrow, oblanceolate and sparsely arranged in one whorl around the yellow disc. The involucral bracts form a deep, angular cup, broad at the base, below the corolla. The receptacle is flat to concave. Flowerheads are about 9 cm in diameter, among the more spectacular ones of the genus. Speciosissimus means very spectacular or the showiest of all.

Flowering occurs from late winter through spring, although the season is sometimes prolonged (Manning, 2007; www.plantzafrica.com).
