Ipomoea bathycolpos flower buds

Tiny Ipomoea bathycolpos buds in an early stage of development are present here in small groups on longish stalks from leaf axils. Flowers usually appear solitary.

The flowers to develop will have spreading, circular corollas on long funnel-shaped tubes, typical among flowers of the morning glory genus. The throat of the flower of I. bathycolpos is dark pink or mauve, the outer corolla part is about white. The stamens are included in the tube.

Flowering happens in summer (Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; iSpot).
