The leaves of Ipomoea ommaneyi are borne erectly. The leaf shape is broadly lanceolate to triangular, tapering to pointed tips and rounded to heart-shaped at the base. The leaves become 30 cm long and 12 cm wide.

The leaf margins are entire to lobed and wavy with yellowish hairy fringes. The leaf midrib as well as spaced, ascending lateral veins and some net-veining can be seen on both surfaces. The leaf folds in slightly along its midrib.

Leaf colour is dark green to yellow green and may have a dull shine. Their surfaces are covered in silvery white hairs (Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; JSTOR; www.fao.org).
