    Papery, translucent bracts with rounded tips are present around the base of the Ixia rapunculoides flower. The funnel-shaped flower tube becomes from 6 mm to 15 mm long. There is more colour in the nearly open buds than in the fully open flowers.

    Guests are welcome as usual, although the pollinator potential of some may be suspect (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Eliovson, 1990; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
