The Lapeirousia pyramidalis subsp. pyramidalis flowers are about white in this photo. They were seen near Oudtshoorn in August. The flower buds in various developmental stages display several colours on the tepal outside surfaces. The thin, cylindrical corolla tubes arch slightly. They become up to 4 cm long.
Creamy, worm-like anthers are visible in some open flowers, also the thinly branched styles. Every style has three branches, and each branch forks again halfway up its length (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
