Flowering in the vicinity of the Maskam Mountains near Vanrhynsdorp, Lapeirousia jacquinii is a common sight late in winter and early in spring. Apart from Nama Karoo succulents, there are many bulbous plants in these parts flowering at this time, some of them rare species.
Open flowers spreading on long tubes and buds resembling blue knob-kerries abound on this older specimen of the cormous perennial (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
