Lapeirousia arenicola, commonly known as the sand cabong, is a cormous perennial growing to about 11 cm in height.
The species distribution is in the Northern Cape and the Western Cape, in Namaqualand on both the Coastal Plain and the Knersvlakte where the plants grow in deep, red sand. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
