Lapeirousia oreogena is one of the less common cabongs or Lapeirousia species that bear actinomorphic or star-shaped flowers, not two-lipped ones.

The six blue-purple tepals are slightly obovate, their upper parts rounded and slightly curving in. There are small, attenuating points at the tepal tips. Big blotches, black to dark purple, are present near the tepal bases. The white arrow-heads or isosceles triangle markings inside the blotches point inwards.

The three oblong, dark-ridged anthers are blue-purple, the thinner style branches slightly longer. The filaments are pale bluish. The dust-like particles on the tepals may be pollen (Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
