Lessertia capitata leaves

The compound leaves of Lessertia capitata are imparipinnate, i.e. there is a terminal leaflet present at the end of the rachis (leaf midrib or stem from which the leaflets emerge at intervals). Ovate stipules are present at the petiole base.

From seven to nine leaflet pairs are grown per leaf, the pairs often not quite opposite. The elliptic leaflets have entire margins and acutely pointed tips, folded in along their midribs. The blade surfaces are dark green, densely hairy on the lower or both surfaces (JSTOR; iNaturalist).
