Lobostemon trichotomus, one of the lobostemons known in Afrikaans as agdaegeneesbos (eight days healing bush) and sometimes as the Bokkeveld healthbush, is a multistemmed (therefore resprouting) shrub reaching heights from 40 cm to 90 cm.

The stems start off hairy, the hairs pointing forward along the stems but disappear from older, woody branches.

The species distribution is inland in the west of the Western Cape from the Gifberg and the Bokkeveld Mountains to Stellenbosch and Worcester. The photo was taken at Kagga Kamma.

The habitat is sandy and rocky mountain slopes and flats among fynbos and shale renosterveld. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://www.worldfloraonline.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
