The simple leaves of Lobostemon trichotomus are sessile and somewhat leathery, ascending scattered around particularly the upper stems; for withered leaves drop off.

The narrowly lanceolate leaves have entire margins and tips more often pointed than rounded. The greyish green to dull green blades are covered in short, whitish, appressed hairs, more so on the upper surfaces. The blades curve up slightly along the margins, sometimes in or out at the tips as well, while some blades are wavy. The cream-coloured leaf midribs are visible on both surfaces, mostly in the lower halves of the leaves.

The narrow, acutely pointed calyx lobes are dark against the back of the corolla, about half its length (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://www.worldfloraonline.org).
