    Monechma incanum, in Afrikaans the netvetbos (caul fat bush) among other names, grows pale brown or whitish grey branches tending to curve downwards, even anchoring in the ground by adventitious rooting.

    The anchoring feature also brought it the Afrikaans name of boegoe-ankerkaroo (buchu anchor Karoo). The boegoe part of the name has been used widely and for long in naming certain medicinal plants (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008).
