Lampranthus haworthii, in Afrikaans commonly known as the persvygie (purple mesemb), is a compact, erect subshrub that reaches heights from 40 cm to 1 m and becomes about as wide.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape from Clanwilliam, the Cederberg and Worcester to the Little Karoo. The photo was taken on Minwater near Oudtshoorn.
The habitat is renosterveld and karoid scrub in loamy soils. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century.
