The flower surface of Lasiosiphon deserticola may be shiny and waxy. The sepal lobes curve variably, their tips here well behind the flower mouths.
The flowers resemble those of some Gnidia plants, the species recently moved from that genus to Lasiosiphon (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
