Lotononis galpinii grows small, alternate, trifoliolate leaves. There are petioles on the leaves but hardly any to no petiolules on the leaflets.

The grey-green, elliptic leaflets are variably silver-haired, greener when young in picture. The leaflets fold in or are channelled above and convex below. They diverge slightly and ascend from the tip of the petiole where they are joined. Leaflet dimensions are from 3 mm to 5 mm long and up to 3 mm wide. The stems are whitish and faintly hairy.

Clusters of young leaves may grow from the axils of older leaves (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; www.kznwildlife.com).
