The leaves of Leucospermum hypophyllocarpodendron subsp. hypophyllocarpodendron are narrow, mostly channelled and erect. The blades vary from near hairless and green to felted and grey. There are two to four yellow or red cartilaginous teeth at the leaf-tips. The leaves are from 4 cm to 13 cm long.

The plant produces bright yellow, rounded to slightly flattened flowerheads. The flowerhead diameter is up to 4 cm in diameter, the slightly incurving styles over 2 cm long. The flowerheads are sweetly rose-scented.

Blooming happens from late winter until after midsummer (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
