Leucospermum grandiflorum stem-leaves

Leucospermum grandiflorum leaves are alternate or spiralling up the stems, their blades wavy. Strongly ascending at the stem-tips, the leaves lower down spread slightly more when older. Old leaves down the stems are much deeper or darker green and less hairy than the pale, velvety stem-tip leaves visible in the background.

The leaf-tip teeth have lost shape here, some appearing like short red strips along the margins. Some leaves have two pronounced, red-tipped, lateral teeth with a rounded central tip where the extended red strip is not always properly centred.

Dark buds of new branches or flowers to be, still quite small, have appeared in some leaf axils in picture (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Eliovson, 1983; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; http://pza.sanbi.org).
