Leucadendron nobile, commonly known as the Karoo conebush and in Afrikaans the naaldblaartolbos (needle leaf conebush or literally top bush), is a single-stemmed, erect shrub, occasionally a small tree that may reach 4 m in height (SA Tree List No. 81.1).

The species distribution is restricted in the southwest of the Eastern Cape, west of Humansdorp in the Kouga, Baviaanskloof and Grootrivier Mountains to Willowmore and slightly into the Western Cape near Uniondale.

The habitat is dry, rocky, fynbos slopes and kloofs in gravelly, sandy or quartzite soils at elevations to 1000 m. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Moriarty, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
