Leucadendron laxum, commonly the Bredasdorp conebush and in Afrikaans the vleirosie (little marsh rose), is an erect, branched shrub reaching 1,5 m in height. It does not resprout after fire.
The species distribution is small, in the southwest of the Western Cape from Stanford to Agulhas.
The habitat is low-lying, moist fynbos flats, at the bottom of kloofs and in dune strandveld, on sandstone and limestone derived soils. The species is considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century, due to habitat destruction from farming, alien plant invasion and other human intervention. This includes plant harvesting, excessive use of chemical fertilisers that reach streams and too frequent fires (Bean and Johns, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; INaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
