Indigofera jucunda has compound leaves with a terminal leaflet also present (imparipinnate leaf structure). A leaflet or pinna of this species is obovate. The tip of the leaflet is notched or rounded. Leaflets are spaced along the rachis, blue-green and slightly folded in along the central vein.

The fragrant, pea-shaped flowers appear in axillary sprays on long stalks in summer. The two wing-petals are brightly coloured, contrasting with the rest of the flower, as can be seen in this picture. There are, however, pale flower forms of the plant as well (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
