Indigofera angustifolia

Indigofera angustifolia, the narrow-leaved indigo or in Afrikaans the wildeboontjie (little wild bean), is a sprawling, wiry-stemmed shrublet that reaches heights from 30 cm to 60 cm.

In this photo some of the long, arched flower stalks are visible, reddish-brown and sparsely covered in white hairs. Some newly forming, narrow fruit pods are also visible.

The species distribution is in the Western Cape, from the Cape Peninsula inland to around Worcester and along the coast to Riversdale. The plants grow mainly on flat ground, but also on lower slopes. This plant was seen in Fernkloof at the end of October (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; JSTOR; iSpot).
