When Jamesbrittenia tortuosa buds elongate, the corolla tubes are initially purple and the vein lines may not be distinctly different in colour. In picture they bulge, appearing ridged.
The tube thickens at the kink, its dull yellow tip slightly club-shaped while the purple part suggests faint gloss. The five-lobed calyx veers away from the corolla tube, its tips forming a bell-shape. The pedicel is long like the corolla tube; the tube becoming about 1 cm long (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
