Lobelia cuneifolia var. cuneifolia is a branched herb growing many stems of around 30 cm long that spread, only erect in their upper, flowering parts.
The stalked leaves borne below are rounded and sparsely toothed, here not seen among the flowers. The Latin word cuneifolia means wedge-shaped.
This variety is distributed in the east of the Western Cape and the west of the Eastern Cape, as far as Port Elizabeth.
The habitat is semi-shade of forests. The plant is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
