Corchorus confusus

Corchorus confusus is a low-growing perennial bearing narrow, round-tipped leaves on spreading branches. It has hairy or bristly stems, leaf stalks and sepals, visible on the buds. Leaf hairiness reduces on mature plants. This one was seen in the Mjejane Game Reserve during December.

Some Corchorus species, particularly C. olitorus and C. capsularis, not occurring in South Africa produce fibre known as jute, used commercially. Corchorus is the Greek name for jute.
