Bias

Prosperity is a blessing that presents challenge. It may be hard to keep all rapidly developing parts in balance, even for a quiver tree growing with no impediments in a lonely place where nothing happens quite frequently.

The nature of success manifests in the acquired characteristics of the entity concerned. Abundant external resources combined with rampant internal energy may bring bias besides fortune, an outcome like leaning to the left.

Leanings are interpreted in terms of viewpoint. Go stand on the other side of the tree and the photo taken shows leaning to the right. The tree itself is unambiguous about its determined inclination, its life condition. From the perspective of its neighbours, scattered at vantage points 360?  around it, all views of it are possible within the horizontal plane; complications added with elevation.

Whether the dramatically inclined branches face morning or afternoon sun and from which side prevailing winds touch or press, may affect factors like moisture retention and soil temperature, thereby the resource availability in the closely covered patch.

Such contingencies of life conditions and opportunity are absent from the living worlds of neighbouring trees that are straight and erect, eking out different existences. This holds for trees of the same species succeeding the present ones in exactly the same spots a century or two into the future.
