These Drosanthemum speciosum flowers were seen in October near Barrydale. The flat white flower centre, densely populated with stamens, has a thin ring of dark staminodes, only filaments without anthers, around them. The petals have a short pale yellow section at the base, mainly orange higher up, although some of the flowers here deviate to paler shades. The species is known to have several colour forms.
In D. bicolor the lower petal parts have a white section, longer than the pale base of D. speciosum flowers (Smith, et al, 1998; iSpot).
