Babiana tubiflora ribbed leaves are typical of many babianas and some lapeirousias also found in the region and more widely. The several small leaf fans in picture indicate multiplication of the subterranean corms produced by runners or stolons.
The spreading tepals of the open corolla in picture are long but not as long as the tube behind it. The corolla tube widens slightly behind the flower mouth. The slightly shorter tube of the bud next-door is still darker and shorter.
This is one of the numerous spring-flowering plants that make the West Coast famous (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
