An Albuca grandis flower in profile shows its inner three tepals connected in a yellow and white cylinder, the outer three raised around the floral centre. After the erect bud stage, the open flowers nod as their pedicels lengthen.
The brown, pointed and longitudinally striped bract that protected each flower bud earlier, dries out and becomes less significant as the flower matures. The young inflorescence seen here is at the level of upper leaf parts, usually well beyond the leaves in height in fully developed inflorescences.
The pedicels elongate even more during the fruiting stage (Manning and Goldblatt, 2009: Albuca crispa and A. grandis. Bothalia 39(2), 153-163; iNaturalist).
