The flowers of an Albuca grandis raceme follow each other in opening without undue haste, starting with the bottom ones. The later buds up top are dull green in picture. The bracts may first turn pinkish in their upper parts when they reach full length, later brown and dry once the outer three tepals lift from around the inner three, and spread in fully open flowers.

Bright yellow colouring may become visible, with some white near the tips on the outside of the inner tepals. Their insides remain unseen and secret to human eyes, only shared with pollinators. The style is faintly wrinkled.

The outer tepal tips appear hooded where they connected earlier to the inner ones in bud. The inner tepals have out-curved white tip parts, complementing their earlier mates in securing the floral structure during budding (Manning and Goldblatt, 2009: Albuca crispa and A. grandis. Bothalia 39(2), 153-163; iNaturalist).
