The flowers of an Albuca grandis raceme follow each other in opening without undue haste. The later ones are dull green on the outside initially as buds, becoming brown on their bracts once the buds dilate.
In the open flowers bright yellow colouring occurs with some white on the outside of the inner three tepals, their insides remaining unseen. This change only happens once the outer tepals spread, revealing the inner ones. The style is faintly wrinkled.
When open, the outer three tepal tips appear hooded where they connected earlier to the inner ones during the bud stage. The inner ones have out-curved white tip parts, complementing their earlier mates in securing the structure during the bud stage (Manning and Goldblatt, 2009: Albuca crispa and A. grandis. Bothalia 39(2), 153-163; iNaturalist).
