Albuca fragrans may grow abundantly, attracting attention as these near the beach at Onrus in September. Flowering occurs from the onset of spring until after midspring.

While the scape may sometimes reach 1 m in height, many of these plants are smaller as in the photo, only becoming 30 cm or shorter. The young racemes, laden with buds are still drooping at this stage, gradually pulling themselves into erect positions, or nearly so when the flowers open (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; iSpot; JSTOR).
