Aristea juncifolia flower

This flower of Aristea juncifolia was seen in Fernkloof during November. The nearly separate, spreading tepals are ovate, variously rounded at their tips to flat-topped. The central dark blue vein on each tepal surface is straighter and more conspicuous than the few lateral ones that branch somewhat, also running to the tepal tip and spreading slightly.

The corolla eye in the centre of the flower is pale cream and white ringed. The yellow anthers on blue and white filaments curve inwards, are oblong in shape with granular surfaces. The style is longer than the stamens, tapering slowly to the stigma that is very small.
