Old Aloiampelos striatula var. striatula plants become many-branched, large and untidy bushes. New branches keep appearing amidst persistent old ones that have dense foliage near their tips and continue to flower.

The type locality of A. striatula, the geographical location where the original specimen or holotype was collected when the species was first described is given by Reynolds: on the Bamboesberg at Marais Krantz, 42 km east of Hofmeyr on the road to Molteno in the Eastern Cape (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
